Set in the 1980s, TOXIC OPTIONS depicts a star City trader who has to deal with a gambling addiction, insider dealing and the IRA.
Dan Perry’s career at Sinclair Bank is firmly on the up until his taste for horse and greyhound racing lead him into debt with two hard East End bookmakers. A plan to act on inside information to recover losses lends him cause for further concern, as he finds himself unwittingly embroiled in a terror plot that threatens to shake the very foundations of the City of London.
Insider dealing and price rigging were rife. The Market Surveillance Committee was situated on the 23rd floor of the Stock Exchange. A summons was a fearsome ordeal.
Gambling was an aside for many. Visits to London Greyhound tracks were de rigueur for many, and Stock Exchange business regularly took a back seat during the weeks of Cheltenham, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.
